GENERAL RULES

  1. All presenters should have registered for the conference at the time of abstract submission.
  2. Mail the abstract for Free paper and e-poster presentation to scientificmidas2019@gmail.com
  3. Each Student can participate in a maximum of one event from each category (Total of two events).
  4. All scientific events will be conducted on October 21st 2019 (Monday) & October 22nd (Tuesday) 2019.
  5. Last date for registration for Category A is October 17th 2019 (Abstract Submission) and Last date for Category B and Academic Quiz is October 19th 2019.
  6. There is no limit for participation for any scientific event per college except for :
    - Teeth setting where maximum of three participants per college are allowed.
    - Table Clinic where Maximum three teams are allowed per college.
    - Art from Dental Materials where Maximum 4 teams are allowed per college.
    - Quiz, where only one team per college is allowed.
  7. Strict adherence to specific guidelines is requested.
  8. Name of college and the guide name should not be revealed in the final presentation. If found, the presenter would be disqualified.
  9. Original studies must have significant contribution by the presenter and approved by the Head of Department.
  10. No change in the topic, title, subject or the category of presentation will be entertained after submission.
  11. Students shall bring their own slide-changers, laser pointers / handouts/ other such material.
  12. All participants must show their College ID cards and MIDAS ID cards at the time of participation. If not, they will not be allowed to participate in the event.
  13. The decision of the scientific committee will be final and binding.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  1. 1. The abstract must be in English not exceeding 250 - 300 words excluding title, author and institutional affiliation.
  2. It is mandatory that the abstract should have the following details as the Heading: Name/ Names of Presenters, Institution, Year of Study, MIDAS Reg No, Subject and Topic.
  3. The abstract should be reviewed and counter-signed by the Head of the Department, who must also take responsibility of the contents of the respective presentations. It should not contain misinterpreted or plagiarized material.
  4. Typed matter should be in Microsoft Word Document in A4 size with standard margins, Times New Roman, Font size 12, Line spacing 1.5.
  5. All abstracts must be submitted only electronically to the email id: scientificmidas2019@gmail.com
  6. Only the scanned copy of the abstract signed by HOD should be uploaded in PDF format.
  7. Last date for abstract submission is October 17th 2019.

RULES FOR PAPER PRESENTATION

  1. Students will be allowed to present papers in all BDS Clinical Subjects: (Oral Medicine & Radiology, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Periodontics, Pedodontics, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Public Health Dentistry, Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Forensic Odontology).
  2. PowerPoint presentation has to be submitted to the desk at the presentation hall, one hour prior to presentation.
  3. Presentation time will be 7 minutes and 2 minutes for discussion.
  4. Name of college and the guide name should not be revealed in the presentation. If revealed, the presenter would be disqualified.

RULES FOR E-POSTER PRESENTATION

  1. Minimum 2 and maximum 4 students per team. All the participants should speak about the poster.
  2. Third Year, Final Year Students and Interns will be allowed to present e-Poster in all BDS Clinical Subjects: (Oral Medicine & Radiology, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Periodontics, Pedodontics, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Public Health Dentistry, Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Forensic Odontology).
  3. First Year and Second Year Students will be allowed to present e-Poster in any of the following topics:
    - Public Awareness of dentistry.
    - Recent Trends in Dentistry
  4. Only one slide in PowerPoint format to be submitted to the desk at the presentation hall, one hour prior to presentation.
  5. Presentation time will be 3 minutes and 1 minute for discussion.
  6. Name of college and the guide name should not be revealed in the presentation. If revealed, the presenter would be disqualified.

RULES FOR QUIZ

  1. Only one team from each college
  2. A team can have a maximum of 4 students.
  3. The team may include students of any year BDS curriculum.
  4. The Quiz competition will include all subjects including basic science.
  5. There will be a preliminary round, followed by the final round consisting of 4 teams.
  6. The Quiz Masters decision will be final.

RULES FOR TABLE CLINIC PRESENTATION

  1. Total Three teams per college can participate.
  2. Only Third year, Final year and Interns can participate in the table clinic.
  3. Maximum Five students per team are allowed.
  4. The time given for the arrangement of the table clinic will be one hour.
  5. Presentation time will be 5 minutes and 1 minute for discussion.

RULES FOR TEETH SETTING

  1. Maximum of three participants per college are allowed.
  2. Only Second year and Third year students can participate.
  3. Bring articulated casts with bite rims duly signed by the Head of the Department on the articulated cast. The participant should also bring a Bonafide Certificate signed by the HOD.
  4. The participant should carry their own instruments.
  5. Teeth set would be provided by the organisers.
  6. Maximum time for Teeth setting will be two hours.
  7. The participants have to bring their own instruments and armamentarium required for the competition.
  8. Rubber sheet is mandatory and the place should be cleaned up after completion of work.

RULES FOR TOOTH MORPHOLOGY CARVING

  1. Only Second year students can participate.
  2. The participant should carry their own instruments.
  3. The participant can use only paraffin wax block issued by the organisers.
  4. The tooth to be carved will be decided only by the judge.
  5. The carved tooth needs to be complete conforming to the natural size.
  6. Maximum time for carving will be 1 hour.

RULES FOR ESSAY WRITING

  1. Only First year students can participate.
  2. The topic for the essay writing will be announced shortly.
  3. Maximum time permitted will be 1 hour.
  4. Papers for the competition will be provided by the organisers. .

RULES FOR ART FROM DENTAL MATERIALS

  1. Total 4 teams per college can participate.
  2. Only First year & Second Year students can participate.
  3. Maximum of Three participants per team will be permitted.
  4. The participant should carry their own instruments.
  5. Maximum time for the event will be 2 hours.
